Capturing Galena in Pen and Ink and Watercolor!

SOLD OUT

Instructor: Ann Thomas

Ann Thomas will conduct a workshop using minimal sketching tools. With your own portable ink pens, small watercolor set, and sketchpad, enjoy capturing the wonderful architecture of Galena, Illinois, with its charming downtown area and abundant historical buildings. Ann will share her techniques for laying down quick pen and ink line images, and then adding tone, texture, contrast, and vibrant color to create spontaneous-energy filled drawings.

Ann encourages students to bring the tools they already have and with which they are comfortable. This is a very portable class, and the media used should be quick drying and easy to carry.

Supply List

Ann has a degree in graphic design from Milwaukee Area Technical College and returned to Mount Mary University to continue studies in computer graphics. She has always loved drawing and fell in love with pen and ink, studying techniques of the Masters and other wonderful artists, eventually doing renderings of homes and structures in the Milwaukee area and in places as far away as India! Ann has added watercolor, colored pencil, and pastels to her repertoire, has taught as an adjunct instructor at Mount Mary University from 2006-2013, and currently conducts workshops in Door County, Cedarburg, and Racine, Wisconsin.
